Newby Teas of London is celebrating after winning 21 prestigious 2011 Great Taste Awards. In a series of blind tastings, the Guild of Fine Foods has awarded Newby with three coveted two star, and eighteen one star Great Taste Awards. This beats Newby’s record of 13 awards, and establishes it’s position as the most decorated tea company in the history of the awards, winning 65 awards in the last 6 years.
This outstanding achievement is undoubtedly due to Newby’s unique tea sourcing and packing facilities. Only one in a thousand teas that enters Newby’s headquarters in London is chosen to become a Newby tea. Each tea is initially tasted on the basis of it’s grading, and the time it is picked. Newby only selects teas that are picked in the prime seasons of first and second flush. When a tea is considered, it is subject to rigorous tasting with the intention to improve tea quality year on year.

TEA IN ITS TRUEST SENSE
Like fine wines, Newby teas have distinctive traits and impeccable standards which make them award winning. They are tea in its truest sense, elevating an everyday beverage to heavenly heights. Newby understands that tea quality is seasonal: in every fine tea- growing area there are only one or two brief but distinct periods in the year when the leaves are at their best. Unlike many other tea brands, Newby only selects and packs teas produced at these prime quality seasons. These teas are used to create bespoke blends that deliver an orchestra of flavours where the sum is far greater than the individual single estate teas.
